Major Arcana, 1 to 7
The Everyday World

In the first line of the Major Arcana we face ourselves with images that even though they're not that familiar, at least cause less fear or curiosity. The images we see refer to beings either concrete or more accesible to our reality, though on the Lovers we see the first hint of the supernatural directly acting in our lives that can be intuitively perceived in cars like the High Priestess or the High Priest.

The sequence goes like this:

This line shows us, roughly, our evolution as people, from the moment we're conscious of our Self, represented here by the Magician as well as the masculine and feminin qualities with all their mysteries ( the High Priestess), only to face later on the maternal and paternal figures, represented here by the Empress and the Emperor respectively. Our first encounter with society's values come hand in hand with the High Priest, who curiously even though it has an identification with the spiritual world, it takes the role of a mediator and deposit of society's moral values, loosing that way a bit of it's religious character, which we'd experimented in a deeper manner with the High Priestess.

After this encounter, that sometimes can turn into a clash, we have the Lovers, that can mean both our amorous experiences and our learning to make decisions by ourselves. The angel or cupid present in this card is the first wholly spiritual being we see in the whole secuence of the Major Arcana, and the only one that appears in this series. This reminds us that for many people, the ecstasy of love is the only truly spiritual experience they achieve in their lives.

The card that closes this firsst line is the Charriot, that tells us of the victories (and why not, defeats) of our every day life. This victories don't need to be just centered around material success, but more likely of a Self that appears victorious as an individuality over all the first stones that appear on the way to individuation, represented here by the former cards.

But this apparent victory is just the begining of a road we must keep on exploring when diving into our inner world.
